Undergraduate accommodation award
Undergraduate accommodation award
We recognise the cost of London student accommodation can be a barrier to students looking to move for study at Escape Studios.
Our £1,000 accommodation award is available to first-year UK undergraduate students joining Escape Studios in 2026/27 and living in student accommodation, to help support your living costs while studying in London.
What can I get?
The Accommodation financial award is £1,000, available to UK students living in student accommodation, joining Escape Studios in the 2026/27 academic year. The award is paid directly to you, to support you with your accommodation costs in your first year.
This is an opportunity to have up to 10% of your accommodation costs covered, depending which provider you choose. See our full list of recommended student accommodation here.
Who's eligible?
- UK home fee status students, studying your first year of an undergraduate course at Escape Studios in the academic year 2026/27 (if you are an international student, find out about international scholarships here).
- Move into student accommodation in London when you begin your course.
- Complete enrolment at Escape Studios in September and provide proof of your address.
(This can be your accommodation contract or a letter from your accommodation provider).
How do I get the accommodation award?
- Apply through UCAS to one of our undergraduate degrees, starting in September 2026.
- Once you receive an offer, you can apply for the accommodation award through your Escape Studios applicant portal. You will need to do this before enrolment.
- We will notify eligible applicants of your award status, subject to meeting the criteria above.
- Book your place directly with your chosen student accommodation (see our recommendations).
- Payments will be awarded directly to eligible students in a single instalment in November, subject to completing enrolment, 90% attendance, and proof of your address in student accommodation. See full terms and conditions.
Book accommodation as early as you can! Rent can go up the later you leave it to book.

Can I get other financial support alongside the accommodation award?
You can receive our scholarships and bursaries as well as the accommodation award, subject to relevant eligibility criteria.
How do I know if I'm a "UK home fee status" student?
Your tuition fees are determined based on your nationality, where you live, and how long you have lived there. If you know your fee status, you can work out how much you will pay for your course tuition fees.
Home fee status
If you have a Home fee status, you will be charged fees based on the UK government’s fee level for the year. And you may be able to apply for a student loan to help you pay your fees.
You are likely to have a Home status if:
- You have been resident in the UK for at least three full years before the first day of the first academic year of the course (except if you have lived in the UK mainly for full-time education) and you are settled in the UK with no restrictions on the length of stay (i.e. indefinite leave to remain or indefinite leave to enter or EUSS settled status)
- You are joining your spouse/civil partner who has been resident for full three years before the first day of the first academic year of the course (except if you have lived in the UK mainly for full-time education) and you are settled in the UK with no restrictions on the length of stay (i.e. indefinite leave to remain or indefinite leave to enter or EUSS settled status)
- You are under 21 and joining your parent who has been resident for full three years before the first day of the first academic year of the course (except if you have lived in the UK mainly for full-time education) and you are settled in the UK with no restrictions on the length of stay (i.e. indefinite leave to remain or indefinite leave to enter or EUSS settled status)
- You have been resident in the UK for at least three full years before the first day of the first academic year of the course (except if you have lived in the UK mainly for full-time education) and your passport states Right of Abode with no restrictions on length.
- You have been resident in the UK for at least three full years before the first day of the first academic year of the course (except if you have lived in the UK mainly for full-time education) and you are a citizen of Republic of Ireland with no restrictions on length of stay.
- You have been resident in the UK for at least three full years before the first day of the first academic year of the course (except if you have lived in the UK mainly for full-time education) and you are a serving member of the British armed forces.
Overseas fee status (International Students)
If you do not qualify for a Home fee status you will have an Overseas fee status. This is likely if:
- You require a Student Visa to study in the UK
- You have not been resident in the UK for at least three full years immediately before the first day of your course.
- You live in the UK but have immigration restrictions about how long you can stay.
- You have lived in the UK but at any point in the three years immediately before the first day of your course, your residency was mainly to receive full-time education.
If you have any questions about your fee status or your fee status is not yet confirmed above, please do not hesitate to contact Admissions Team on admissions@escapestudios.ac.uk. Further information and advice on fee status categories can be found on the UKCISA website.
Does it matter which student accommodation I choose?
You will need to move in to a purpose-built student accommodation, where the building has at least 30 bedrooms only rented by students. Your accommodation needs to be in London (within the M25).
All of the recommended student accommodation on our website here would meet this requirement.
Can I get the award if I'm renting privately?
This award is only available to students who live in a student accommodation building in London (within the M25). The award is designed to support with living costs as we recognise the cost of student accommodation can be a barrier to students who are looking to move in order to study at Escape Studios.
Even if I'm miles away from home, I'm never far from finding someone going through experiences similar to mine.
