ENGLISH LANGUAGE SUPPORT

Escape Studios offers English language support for international students who wish to improve their academic writing skills, technical vocabulary and confidence in the everyday use of the language.

Our partner, Oxford International offers a Pre-Sessional English course to prepare applicants for taking a SELT, and in-person classes for additional language support for students.

Our students are also supported by an Academic Support Tutor throughout their studies in regular sessions as part of their course.

Available support

Pre-sessional English classes

Escape Studios has partnered with Oxford International Digital Institute to offer pre-sessional English courses for those looking to enhance their language skills before taking their SELT (Secure English Language Test). More information can be found on the OIDI website.

Academic support sessions

Our Academic Support team runs weekly, face-to-face sessions throughout your studies to help you with topics associated with English of Academic Purposes (EAP), such as:

Coherence in Writing
Paragraph Development
Nominalisation and Technical Vocabulary
Text Structure and Organisation.

Our team will work with you directly to help you with the English language skills necessary to thrive on your degree programme. The classes aim to develop your abilities to convey ideas clearly and coherently, and apply them in your projects, whether individually or in groups.

In-person English classes (Oxford International)

Students who require further support in order to gain confidence in the language may also sign up for classes with our partner, Oxford International.*

Escape Studios' students wishing to take classes at their Greenwich centre, will also receive 25% off the weekly price, a waiver of the enrolment fee and £25 discount off the material fees for select courses.

English Language Requirements Overview

English language requirements

All our courses are taught in English. If your first language is not English, you may need to complete an English language test, such as a Pearson English language test (PTE Academic) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test, to demonstrate you have the language skills needed to complete your degree.

IELTS for UKVI (Academic)	6.0 IELTS (with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading and Writing and 5.5 in Speaking and Listening)
PTE Academic UKVI	62 including 60 in each subtest
LanguageCert for UKVI (SELT)	65 Overall (With a minimum of 65 in Reading and Writing and 60 in Speaking and Listening)

International students will be required to hold a Secure English Language Test (SELT) at B2 in order to be able to apply for a visa to study at Escape Studios on a student visa. Visit the government website for guidance

You may be exempt from proving your English level if you are from an English-speaking country listed as recognised for visa purposes or have a degree level qualification obtained in one of these countries. The latest list is available on the UK Government website.
