Escape Studios' Mental Health Toolkit

Three students chatting against stone wall

At Escape Studios, we know that balancing creativity, studies and life can be tough. That’s why we’ve created a Mental Health Toolkit to support you throughout your journey! Whether you’re dealing with stress, imposter syndrome or just need someone to talk to, we’ve got you covered.

Strategies for managing stress

  • Break tasks into smaller, manageable parts. Use apps or planners to organise your study or project.
  • Regular exercise can reduce stress hormones and increase mood-boosting chemicals like endorphins.
  • Practice deep breathing, meditation or yoga to calm your mind during stressful periods – mindfulness is key.
  • Don’t forget to schedule time for yourself. A short break, walk or chat with a friend can work wonders for reducing stress.

Coping with anxiety

  • Identify what triggers your anxiety. Once you know, you can plan how to approach the situation.
  • When anxiety strikes, focus on your senses to help stay present and regain control.
  • Anxiety can feel isolating, but you’re not alone. Reach out to peers, mentors or a professional when it feels overwhelming.
  • Write down anxious thoughts and counter them with realistic, supportive statements. Shifting perspective can reduce the impact of anxiety.

Dealing with depression

  • If you’re feeling persistently low or unmotivated, don’t hesitate to seek help. Talk to a friend, tutor or professional counsellor.
  • Even when you don’t feel like it, sticking to a daily routine can help break the cycle of depression.
  • Sometimes even basic tasks feel daunting. Set small, manageable goals, like getting dressed, or going for a short walk, and celebrate small victories.
  • Depression can make you want to withdraw from others, but staying connected with people can help lift your mood. Even casual chats with classmates or family can be beneficial.
