Spots to escape to around campus

Have a spare period in your timetable? We've listed a few favourite, more niche spots near campus that our students love to explore. All are within a 15 minute walk!

1. Forbidden Planet Megastore

Located close to Seven Dials on Shaftesbury Avenue, the Forbidden Planet London Megastore is a shrine to the latest merchandise, comics, graphic novels and books. It's one of the world's largest sci-fi, fantasy and cult entertainment retailers and the London store is definitely worth a visit for your fantasy fix. 2. Orcs Nest

Established in 1987, Orcs Nest is central London's only specialist games shop. From tabletop gaming and board games to card games and collectables, Orcs Nest is a game lover's dream. It's for sure one of London's hidden gems and is a must-visit whilst you're studying with us.

Just an 8-minute walk from campus, Orcs Nest is located at 6 Earlham Street, WC2H 9RY.

3. Fopp

Part of the HMV group, Fopp is a film and music store in Covent Garden stocked with a huge range of vinyl records, CDs and DVDs. It's a hidden treasure and embraces the more traditional ways of watching and listening to different media. It's also on the same street as Orcs Nest!

4. Waterstones - Piccadilly

The Waterstones in Piccadilly is Europe's largest book store with over 8 miles of bookshelves covering every genre you can think of. Take a wander around and explore fresh, hot off the press book releases as well as a selection of 1st editions. Relax in the café situated on the first floor, or come to a book signing and meet your favourite author in person.

5. Prince Charles Cinema

The Prince Charles Cinema is every student's dream. Located in the iconic Leicester Square, students can enjoy a range of new and old film showings with major student discounts. Grab yourself a £7.50 annual student membership and enjoy discounted entry across all showings. You can also access regular screenings for just £1!
