Test drive industry software taught on our degrees
Our taster days are a perfect intro to software taught on our degrees in animation, games and VFX.
You'll be taught by our expert tutors, check out our studios, and have a go at some industry software we teach on your preferred course: either Maya, Unreal Engine, or Toon Boom Harmony!

The Unreal Engine taster day
For students interested in studying:
You will take part in an activity using Unreal Engine, one of the industry's leading tools in not only games, but the whole CGI industry, through its amazing real-time rendering capabilities.
The Autodesk Maya taster day
For students interested in studying:
You will explore the essential tools of Maya, a key 3D software in the industry for animation and VFX.
You'll learn some of the key elements including how to animate objects in a 3D environment to get a flavour of what you could be creating during your studies.
The Toon Boom Harmony taster day
For students interested in studying:
You will begin to learn how to use Toon Boom Harmony, one of the key pieces of 2D animation software currently being used in the industry.
Take part in introductory exercises including how to animate small objects to move in a 2D environment and some of the basic drawing functions with Wacom pens.

Can I try out more than one software on the day?
To offer the best experience, you can only attend one software taster session per event. You can't be in more than one place at once after all!
You'll get a good understanding of what our courses are like and how the industry software works. You'll also create some digital work you can add to your portfolio.Who can attend?
The content at our undergraduate taster day is for students aged 16 or over. We only have space for prospective students in the studios. If you are a parent/carer, our open days are a great option for you to visit.When will the next taster day be?

Tickets are limited so everyone can access a workstation in our studios. Please book early to avoid disappointment and cancel your booking if you’re unable to make it, so someone else can use the slot.
Let us know if you require any support or adjustments in order to access our venue no later than 5 working days before the activity. We will make reasonable adjustments where possible.
Please aim to arrive around 15 minutes before the start to allow time for check in.
