Escape Studios has launched a new cutting-edge entrepreneurship masters degree designed for the creative industries. Starting in September 2026, MA Entrepreneurship for the Creative Industries has been created with input from creative entrepreneurs, founders, and CEOs to prepare for the new era of work, where side-hustles, freelancing and portfolio careers are the norm.

On this one-year degree, you won’t just study entrepreneurship, you'll live it. From day one, you’ll step into a practical incubator-style environment where ideas turn into real-world ventures. You'll create production schedules, business plans, and project briefs in collaboration with industry partners, then take the leap into launching your own startup.

You’ll be coached by expert tutor, Glyn Fairweather, a seasoned creative Entrepreneur and Game Designer who helped shape major projects at JAGEX, including RuneScape’s live operations overhaul, and later scaled Space Ape Games from a Series A startup into a multi-genre studio reaching 50 million players. He went on to lead design at Fundamentally Games, supporting indie developers with startup-driven principles like shipping early, learning fast, and building for proven value.

If you have experience in animation, games, design, or digital arts and dream of building something extraordinary, this masters degree will empower you to become the founder, innovator, and entrepreneur you’ve always wanted to be.

Simon Fenton, Deputy Principal at Escape Studios comments:

"We’re thrilled to launch MA Entrepreneurship for the Creative Industries, adding to our growing portfolio of dynamic, industry‑focused programmes. This degree has been designed to nurture creativity, strengthen employability, and meet the evolving needs of the creative sector. We’re proud to champion new pathways into the industry through entrepreneurship, empowering our Escapees to become the innovators and disruptors of the future."

Glyn Fairweather, Programme Leader for MA Entrepreneurship for the Creative Industries shares his perspective on what makes this degree stand out:

“This degree is about turning creative ambition into real-world action. It’s intentionally not an MBA, it’s a hands-on, lean-startup programme for innovators who don’t want to wait for permission to build - they just want to make it happen.”
