Where are the UK animation studios

The UK plays an important role in the global animation landscape. Studios spread across the country producing everything from children’s TV to blockbuster movies. Whether you’re an aspiring Animator, a recent graduate, or just curious about where the magic happens, it helps to know how and where to find them. Let’s take a tour.
Animation UK Studio Directory
One great resource is Animation UK’s Studios Directory. The directory allows you to search by region and discipline. You can find studios close to home and further away. Don’t forget that UK passport holders have the right to work in Ireland as well as the UK. Smaller studios will receive far fewer applications than the big famous ones, and hence are much easier to break into. Also consider that smaller studios won’t run formal internship programmes, but they might just make one up for you if you ask nicely and have a good demo reel.
Film London List of Studios
Another great resource is Film London’s list of animation and VFX houses. The studios listed are all partners offering post and VFX services to the industry. The resource is designed to support producers, location managers and creatives in finding the right partners for their projects.

Today, animation in the UK continues to thrive, supported by a generous tax credit that offers almost 40% of the production budget.
